Environmental Responsibility

For Grupo Kaltex protecting the environment has always been a moral principle that has guided us for over 90 years. All our plants and processes are clean and our team is committed to preserve the environment natural balance. We are ISO-9001-2009 and ISO 14000 certified,  and in compliance with C-TPAT, Levi´s® TOE  and Ikea’s IWAY standards.

Water Management

Due to the nature of textile processes, water is used intensively and we address its management from three angles:

 

TREATMENT PLANT

We have completely eliminated the generation of contaminated water due to our extensive water treatment plant that processes 240 liters of water per second. As a result, the water treated meets  aquatic life quality standards.

 

AQUA MINUS PROJECT

Dye system based on a proprietary technology that eliminates rinsing in the process of denim production.

  • Saves up to 10 liters of water per garment.​
  • Less effluents
  • Reduction of biological charge.
  • Reduction of DBO, DQO y dissolved solids.

O3ZONED

The garment washing technology with Ozone allows the reuse of the water, limiting at the same time the use of detergents, bleachers and softeners.

  • Saves up to 24 liters of water per garment
  • Saves up to 0.3 kW of energy per garment

Energy Management

Grupo Kaltex not only has programs for saving energy but also has built a cogeneration energy plant for generating a cleaner and sustainable source of energy.

 

GOMATURA

Dyeing during the gumming process increases efficiency and eliminates the rope and open cable processes.

  • Water and energy savings.

COGENERATION PLANT

The plant counts for a gas turbine with a capacity of 36 mega watts –iso and a heat recovery of 120 tons/hour of steam, covering most of the energy needs of the group.

With this plant, the carbon footprint of Kaltex Fibers was reduced in 25% in 2014

Waste Management

Our approach is reducing waste at the source and recycling. Over 97% of our waste is recyclable and used as raw material in other sectors.

 

UPCYCLE

We developed a high quality ecologic yarn made with recycled cotton and PET fibers using a proprietary technology.

RECIPIO

Is a technology for recovering and reusing the overflow of black sulphur used in black denim for grey sulphur top dyeing.
